Underclassmen steal the headlines in the third installment of the Manitowoc County Cross Country Honor Roll for the week ending September 6th.
For the boys, freshman Austin Helms of Kiel turned in the week’s top time at 16:23, nearly a minute faster than senior Reid Stryzewski of Manitowoc Lincoln (17:12).
Shipbuilder freshmen Tucker Goff and Logan Backus recorded the 6th and 9th fastest times of the week, respectively.
Manitowoc Lutheran had five of the top ten times this week.
Freshmen Phil Melso and Josh Welch, along with senior JJ Sweeney, were third through fifth, respectively, while juniors Max Ciha and Elliot Franzen posted the eighth and tenth fastest times of the week.
The girls’ top overall time was posted by Manitowoc Lincoln junior Noah Free (20:09).
Freshman teammate Ava Wetenkamp was third. Two Rivers had three of the top ten times this week.
Freshman Andi Gallagher and Leighton Erickson were second and eighth, respectively, with junior Allie Gallagher coming in fifth.
Kiel junior Evalyn Schafer posted the fourth-fastest time of the week.
Junior Paige Backus of Valders was seventh. Manitowoc Lutheran sophomore Temperance Farmer recorded the ninth fastest overall time of the week with Mishicot teammates Juliana Doerner (6th) and senior Hailey Dondlinger (10th) rounding out the top ten.
The top overall times recorded by class gender are as follows:
Freshman – Austin Helms (Kiel) and Andi Gallagher of Two Rivers.
Sophomores – Brendan Streeter of Manitowoc Lincoln and Temperance Farmer of Manitowoc Lincoln.
Juniors – Kolten Schisel of Valders and Norah Free of Manitowoc Lincoln
Seniors – Reid Stryezewski of Manitowoc Lincoln and Haliey Dondlinger of Mishicot.
This honor roll, which reflects the top times from all Manitowoc County schools, is put together weekly by Manitowoc Lincoln Head Coach Michael Bubolz and Manitowoc Lutheran Head Coach Abbey Bubolz.
