The Two Rivers Fire Department is thanking an area outdoorsmen’s club for a recent donation.
The Northeastern Wisconsin Great Lakes Sport Fishermen’s Club recently donated four new life rings, which have been placed along the area where the East and West Twin Rivers converge before flowing into Lake Michigan.
These locations were strategically selected by the Fire Department to make them available “in areas where people are most likely to be near or entering the water, including beaches, walkways, seawalls, harbors, and areas where boats are docked or launched.”
The Department is reminding residents that if they see someone struggling in the water to always call 911 first and provide a detailed description of their location.
Then, grab the flotation device and try to toss it beyond where the victim is.
A long throw can be dragged back towards the victim, while a short throw will have to be brought back in and re-thrown, wasting valuable time.
The Department said of the donation, “We are grateful to the Northeastern Wisconsin Great Lakes Sport Fishermen’s Club for helping the Two Rivers Fire Department make our shoreline and waterways safer for residents, visitors, boaters, anglers, and families.”
