A Two Rivers Man previously facing multiple child sexual assault charges has avoided prison time.
Late last week, 27-year-old Andrew Mueller returned to court for a plea and sentencing hearing as he faced two felony counts of Second-Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.
At that hearing, those charges were dismissed, and he instead was found guilty of one count of Causing Mental Harm to a Child as part of a plea deal.
For that charge, Judge Robert Dewane withheld Mueller’s sentence and instead ordered him to three years of probation and 90 days in the Manitowoc County Jail.
The 27-year-old was also required to undergo a psychosexual evaluation, and he is not to have any contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18.
Mueller was originally accused of sexually assaulting a child twice in November and December of last year, with court documents revealing that both alleged sexual assaults took place when the victim was just months removed from their 13th birthday.
No details were provided as to how the state and Mueller reached the plea deal, which saw his charges and sentencing reduced.
