Two Rivers’ assistant police chief has earned another award.
Melissa Wiesner was given the National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award at the American Legion National Convention in Louisville on Wednesday.
Wiesner has been with the department for 24 years and is married to a retired Army first sergeant.
Legion National Commander Dan Wiley says that in addition to Melissa’s police officer duties, she is also a mental health advocate, adding that Wiesner “cares passionately about people in crisis and has organized a national wellness symposium held annually in Wisconsin.”
Last year, Wiesner earned the 2025 Edward J. Ormsby Law and Order Award from the State of Wisconsin after being nominated by American Legion Post 165 as its Officer of the Year.
