A local organization is helping make sure Dolly Parton’s legacy will be remembered in Manitowoc County.
The Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary has received a $3,000 grant from Rotary District 6270 to support the local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program, coordinated by United Way Manitowoc County.
The investment will support approximately one month of book deliveries to children enrolled in the program.
Peggy Kadow, the President of Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary, said of the donation, “We are thrilled to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program, and we are excited for Rotary members to join the United Way’s pop-up literacy events.”
United Way Manitowoc County Executive Director Ashley Bender agreed, adding, “Dolly Parton’s vision was simple but powerful: put books into the hands of children and inspire a lifelong love of reading. We’re honored to partner with Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary to carry that vision forward and make a lasting difference for local families.”
United Way Manitowoc County currently serves more than 1,100 children through the program and continues to see approximately 53 new enrollments each month.
The organization is working toward a goal of serving 2,600 children by 2029.
