The Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers began defense of their Big East Conference football title with a 19-0 victory over Cedar Grove Belgium on Coach Heidrich Field at Lancer Circle.
The Lancers led 13-0 at halftime thanks to a pair of Josiah Martin touchdowns of 19 and 41 yards and tacked on a third score as Aiden Augustine returned a Rockets fumble for a score in the fourth quarter to complete the shutout.
Despite running five less plays than the Rockets (53 to 48), the Lancers ran up 308 yards of total offense compared to 174 for Cedar Grove- Belgium.
(Josiah) Martin had an outstanding night on the ground carrying the ball 15 times for 170 yards and those two touchdowns.
Defensively, linebacker Roman Di Marco had eight total tackles, Benjamin Ott had six tackles to go along with two sacks and three tackles for loss while Evan Wagner added five tackles of his own.
Manitowoc Lutheran has outscored their opponents by a combined score of 76 to 7 and have not allowed a defensive touchdown through three games this season.
The Lancers look for a fourth consecutive win next Friday night when the host The Mishicot Indians. The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
