The Manitowoc Lutheran boys fared well at a massive 36-team cross country meet yesterday.
The Lancers finished 2nd in the team standings at the James Boyd Invitational Cross Country Meet on the UW Green Bay campus, with their top runner being Philip Melso.
He earned a 7th-place finish among the 106-runner field in the small school division.
His teammates Josh Welch and JJ Sweney finished four seconds apart, finishing 15th and 16th, respectively, while Luxemburg-Casco’s Ezra Treml outpaced the entire field.
In the large school race, Manitowoc Lincoln was 7th, with Reid Stryzewski leading the Ships with a 7th-place finish.
He was only .2 seconds behind the 6th-place finisher, Daniel Zahng, and 2 seconds out of the top five.
As for the girls, the Lancers were 11th as a team in the Small School division, with Temperance Farmer leading the way.
Her time of 21:40.1 was good for 14th place.
The Lincoln girls did not compete.
