The City of Manitowoc is welcoming everyone to the newly refurbished skatepark for a ribbon-cutting in September.
The event will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16th at the park located at 1840 South 35th Street.
City officials and skating enthusiasts will be on hand to showcase the Phase 3 upgrades, which included new concrete ramps, replacing the deteriorating wooden ramps, as well as other skating equipment.
Local skater Kris Kouba told us a year and a half ago that the bank ramps would consistently develop “a soft, mushy spot,” leading the skaters to take them apart and fix them themselves.
This community-driven project was funded by the Friends of the Manitowoc Skatepark, which received a grant from the West Foundation and matching funds from the City of Manitowoc and the Manitowoc Skatepark Preservation Project.
