The suspect in a Manitowoc murder case is set to appear in court ahead of his five-day jury trial.
21-year-old Kirk Dunn will be in court today (August 28th) at 1:30 p.m. for a motion hearing. Dunn has been charged with First-Degree Intentional Homicide and Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Jaisiah Owens in Manitowoc last year.
At this time, it remains unclear what will be discussed at today’s hearing.
Kirk was arrested shortly after a gunfight at an apartment complex on Dewey Street in September.
Despite his arrest, Dunn maintains his innocence, telling authorities that he shot Owens in self-defense.
After the shooting, Owens was taken from the scene to a different home with gunshot wounds, and he would eventually pass away on South 17th Street.
After today’s hearing, Dunn will return to court on October 10th for his final pre-trial conference ahead of his five-day jury trial, which begins on November 16th.
Until then, he remains in custody on a $500,000 cash bail.
