A collective of non-profits aiming to help the most vulnerable residents in Manitowoc is asking for help.
The Neighborhood of Manitowoc County, which is a joint effort by The Manitowoc Warming Shelter, Hope House, and The Haven, is looking to raise money for two major projects.
First is the ongoing conversion of the former McKinley School building in the 1000 block of Huron Street into a facility with 36 transitional and affordable apartments.
That project kicked off earlier this year with a ton of work being done on the interior and the replacement of the windows.
The second is the building of a permanent warming shelter with day services.
The warming shelter has been forced to move locations twice in as many years, and recently the City of Manitowoc approved a move to St. Paul Lutheran Church on South 10th Street.
