Two women have been arrested for smuggling drugs into the Oshkosh Correctional Institution.
The Oshkosh Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Unit received a tip indicating drugs were being brought into the jail, so the Department and jail staff conducted separate investigations.
The first woman was caught on June 28th, when she was visiting an inmate.
The 42-year-old woman from Cleveland, Ohio, was said to have two plastic baggies of tobacco and oxycodone pills on her person.
She was arrested, while the 35-year-old inmate she was visiting was also hit with a charge of Party to the Crime of Delivering Articles to an Inmate.
Then, on August 18th, a 58-year-old woman from Racine County was caught transporting two balloons of suboxone strips to a 30-year-old male inmate.
She was also arrested, and the inmate was hit with the same charge as the first.
The Oshkosh Police Department said of the case, “(The Department) remains committed to protecting the community and supporting the safety and security of local correctional facilities. VNU will continue to work closely with OSCI and other corrections partners to identify, investigate, and prevent attempts to introduce illegal drugs into correctional institutions.”
