The man who helped lead the Capitol Civic Centre through the pandemic is moving on.
Executive Director P.J. Albert has announced that he will step down from his role at the Jewel of the Lakeshore on Saturday, September 12th, as he has accepted a new position as the Managing Director of the Sarasota Opera in Florida.
Albert has been with the Capitol for six years, helping navigate its reopening after the COVID pandemic while also deepening relationships with local Arts Partners and strengthening the Centre’s role as the premier cultural hub of the Lakeshore region.
He called serving the Capitol “an incredible privilege,” while adding, “I am exceptionally proud of what our team, Board, and community have accomplished together. Manitowoc is a remarkably supportive community with a rich arts culture, and while leaving is bittersweet, I am excited to step into this new chapter with the Sarasota Opera.”
Board President Dean Dvorak praised Albert for his “dedicated service, vision, and commitment to the Capitol Civic Centre,” also noting that he is leaving the organization “on solid footing.”
The Board of Directors has named General Manager Melyssa Behnke as Interim Executive Director.
