For the first time since 2005, the Casco A’s are Shoreland League champions.
The A’s won the title in front of a home crowd at Village Park thanks to a great defensive play on a chopper down the third base line, securing the final out in a 4-1 win over the Denmark Devilbears.
Casco jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, giving pitcher Noah Lindsley a bit of breathing room.
He used it to full effect, going just over 7 innings while only allowing 1 run and striking out 5 batters.
That one run would make it interesting down the stretch, but Patrick Daniels would deliver a dagger in the bottom of the 8th with a two-run home run.
Trevor Reinhard closed out the game on the mound, delivering the final five outs.
The A’s needed all three games to claim the series win after falling 4-0 in game one.
