A long-vacant building in downtown Manitowoc is set to be redeveloped.
Community Development Director Adam Tegan explained on WOMT’s Just The Facts yesterday that the Village Square building, located at the northwest corner of South 10th and Franklin Streets, was purchased by an out-of-state owner who plans to possibly make it into both office and housing space.
Tegan says movement on the project could begin soon.
“We’ll be seeing some construction fencing going up in the next couple of weeks, maybe mid-September,” he stated. “Hopefully, they will be starting that interior demolition on that project shortly thereafter.”
Tegan calls the property very visible and historic, with a lot of potential.
The building was listed for sale back in 2023 after a “previous building restoration plan did not come to fruition.”
Tegan also provided an update on several development projects in the community, including the Mirro Property, Mid-cities and Lakeshore Mall properties, and the River Point District.
