The father of an Outagamie County teen found extremely malnourished is requesting a new psychiatric evaluation.
48-year-old Walter Goodman was in court yesterday, where his attorney argued that his client was unable to understand the court proceedings and assist in his own defense.
Despite a previous evaluation determining that Goodman was competent to stand trial, Judge Yadira Rein approved a second evaluation.
He will be back in court on September 3rd for a status conference, and the competency hearing is slated for October 30th.
Goodman, his wife Melissa Goodman, his daughter Savanna Lefever, and her partner Kayla Stemler were also arrested after Walter’s 14-year-old daughter was found to weigh only 35 pounds.
Melissa was previously sentenced to 15 years in prison, Stemler is due for sentencing on August 24th, and Lefever has a plea hearing on August 28th.
