High School Boys and Girls Volleyball, boys and girls Cross Country, and Boys Soccer begin preparation for their season(s) tomorrow (Monday) with their first day of practice.
Plenty of eyes will be focused on the Manitowoc Lutheran girls’ volleyball team as they look to capture a third straight state title this fall.
The Lancers, under Head Coach Lacey Behnke, won the Division Four championship in 2024 and won it all again in Division Three in 2025.
They lose a lot of talent from those two squads due to graduation, including Makiah Krause, Marissa and Lilly Melhorn, Stevie Brunner, and Abby Behnke, but plenty of talent returns in 2026, led by seniors Ava Steubs and Morgan Jost, along with juniors Brooke Duveneck and Sallieann Burrows.
Most volleyball schools will participate in preseason scrimmages on Saturday, August 22nd before the start of regular season play the following week.
Meanwhile, several sports, including football, girls’ swimming, and girls’ tennis are putting the final touches on preparations for the start of their seasons.
Special guests on WOMT Sports Talk tomorrow (Monday) night will be athletes from the Manitowoc Lincoln girls’ tennis team.
The show airs from 5:30 to 7:15 at Salute to Everyone, located at 1107 South 10th Street in Manitowoc.
