The City of Manitowoc is officially breaking ground on a long-time housing project.
City and state officials will put shovels in the ground on the Maritime Lofts on Thursday, August 27th at 10:30 a.m. at the former Mirro site on Washington Street.
The completed complex will have 59 apartments, including 21 one-bedroom, 20 two-bedroom, and 18 three-bedroom apartments.
It will cost just over $14 million to complete construction, bringing the total project cost to around $19.5 million.
The city says the lofts will “transform the long-vacant property into quality housing for families and individuals earning between 30% and 80% of the county median income, while advancing the community’s vision for downtown revitalization and expanded housing opportunities.”
