Two cats were rescued from a burning building in Appleton.
The Appleton Fire Department was called to the 2600 block of North Bennett Street just before 2:00 yesterday afternoon (August 11th) on a report of a structure fire.
Crews arrived to find the home filled with smoke, but a search confirmed all residents had safely exited, aside from three cats.
Two of them were safely removed while the third remained hidden in a crawl space, but is said to be uninjured.
The blaze was deemed under control within ten minutes of the department’s arrival, but not before it caused an estimated $70,000 in damage.
The Appleton Fire Department also noted that the smoke alarms were working properly in the home, and thanked the Appleton Police Department and Grand Chute Fire Department for their assistance at the scene.
