A new police team could be in the works through the Two Rivers and Mishicot Police Departments.
Two Rivers Police Chief Ben Meinnert explained last week on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that his department has teamed up with Mishicot to form the Warrant Service Team.
Thanks to a brat fry held through the Manitowoc/Two Rivers Lions Club, $1,400 raised will go toward an interior drone, and Chief Meinnert says Two Rivers also received a grant for a second drone.
“With that, we need to have a drone team,” he stated. “So that’s developed another opportunity yet for our department and potentially Mishicot’s. And I’ve been in early talks at least with Mishicot about utilizing them because they have a little bit of a background with one of their officers.”
Meinnert says the police departments could use the drones for multiple purposes, as fire departments in the area do know.
The Warrant Service Team was developed in 2025 in response to community concerns about drug activity and can handle higher-risk warrant service operations.
