A local art gallery has gained major recognition as one of the top museums in the country.
ARTnews, one of the world’s leading art-based publications, has ranked the John Michael Kohler Arts Center as the sixth best art museum in the United States.
ARTnews specifically noted the JMKAC’s ranking was in part due to the exclusive exhibitions the gallery has to offer, including works from Sam Barsky, as well as the JMKAC Art Preserve, the world’s first-ever museum dedicated solely to artist-built environments.
Emily Watlington with ARTnews, continues to say, “There are great exhibitions you can’t see anywhere else… Here art and life blur—even on bathroom breaks, since each restroom is its own artist collaboration. Every inch is wonderfully weird.”
The other museums landing above the JMKAC included the Getty Center in Los Angeles, the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, both of which are in New York.
