The family of Corey Ruiz is calling for peace after an encampment in Madison was cleared out by police.
In a statement yesterday, the family said protesters should “keep fighting for justice,” but to do so peacefully because “no one else should be hurt in Corey’s name.”
The statement comes after more than a dozen people were arrested while the city removed belongings from the encampment at Williamson and Baldwin streets, the location where Ruiz was shot and killed by police on July 22nd.
Traffic was moving again at the intersection yesterday afternoon.
