One of the most prestigious art galleries in Wisconsin has received a major gift.
The John Michael Kohler Arts Center has announced that they have been gifted nearly 2,000 works from internationally esteemed, Wisconsin-based artist Michelle Grabner.
These works span Grabner’s nearly 30-year career, including 300 items from her personal collection as well as her teaching archives.
Grabner was born in Oshkosh and has become internationally known for her art, which includes print work, sculpting, foundry work, and much more.
On this landmark addition, the JMKAC noted, “This extraordinary gift establishes JMKAC as the principal institutional home for one of Wisconsin’s most influential contemporary artists. The collection will support future exhibitions, research, and public programs, ensuring Grabner’s work remains accessible for generations to come.”
Currently, Grabner serves as the Crown Family Professor of Art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, a role she’s held for 20 years.
