We are officially one week out from the 2026 August Partisan Primary in Wisconsin.
There are several state and local races on the docket, with the biggest being the partisan election for Wisconsin Governor.
There are now four candidates running to be the Democratic nominee, including Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, State Representative Francesca Hong, State Senator Kelda Roys, and former Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennen.
However, three candidates who dropped out, including Sara Rodriguez, Mandela Barnes, and Missy Hughes, will also appear on Manitowoc County ballots.
They will face the winner of the Republican partisan primary, which is a race between 7th District Congressman Tom Tiffany and Wisconsin Resident Andrew Manske.
There will also be an election for two Republican candidates running for lieutenant governor.
That will be between Will Martin and David Varnam. Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski is the only one registered to run for lieutenant governor for the Democrats.
There are several other contested races at the state level. They include four Republican candidates running to be Secretary of State, including Manitowoc County’s own Brayden Myer.
There are also two Democrats running for state treasurer, Yee Leng Xiong and Dylan Ray Helmenstine. At the more local level, several candidates are running for state assembly and senate seats.
There will be a partisan primary for Wisconsin Senate District 1, with four Republicans looking to be nominated.
They include Katie Baney, Barbara Bittner, Nic Cravillion, and Jacob VandenPlas.
The winner will take over for State Senator Andre Jacque, who decided not to run for reelection.
Only one candidate filed to run either for the Democrats or Republicans in Wisconsin Senate District 9 as well as Assembly Districts 25, 27, 2, and 3, which covers all of Manitowoc County.
There is also a congressional race in Wisconsin’s Sixth District.
Two Democrats, Brad Smith and Amanda Bell, will be on the ballot.
They will face Incumbent Congressman Glenn Grothman.
There are also two uncontested races in Manitowoc County. Dan Hartwig is running again to be sheriff, while Angela Linderud looks to keep her seat for Clerk of Courts.
