A local organization is asking for help locating a banner dedicated to one of our local heroes.
Shady Lane Inc. explains that their Salute to Service Banner for Private Robert L. Nelson was posted at the corner of South 12th and Dewey Streets in Manitowoc, but the high winds we experienced recently caused the banner to become detached.
People have been looking for the banner, but so far, it has not been located.
The banner stands around six feet tall.
Anyone who finds the banner is encouraged to drop it off either at Shady Lane, located at 1235 South 24th Street, or at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall.
Deanne Weier, an Administrator of Shady Lane, Inc., says, “This banner is meaningful to Private Nelson’s family and to our community…We would be incredibly grateful for the community’s help in returning it so it can continue to honor Private Nelson’s service.”
