A Fox Valley man is on his way to Madison to call attention to what he calls “threats to Medicaid-funded home care.”
Carl Schulze is wheelchair bound, and relies on these in-home care services every day.
He is making the 11-day trip from his Fox Crossing home to the state Capitol completely in his wheelchair, a trip he actually took last year to call for higher pay for caregivers.
This year’s trip is fueled by the nearly $1 trillion cut Congress made to Medicaid funding and a Justice Department memo that questions whether people with disabilities have the right to receive care in the community.
Schulze is expected to arrive at the Capitol on Thursday, August 6th at around 11:00 a.m., and he plans to host a press conference at the Capitol at Noon.
Also participating in the conference will be Jason Glozier and Tami Jackson, the co-chairs of the statewide group known as Survival Coalition.
