Several local and area entities responded to a southside Manitowoc residence that caught fire Friday afternoon.
Manitowoc Fire Department Battalion Chief Jacob Johnsrud tells Seehafer News.com that upon arrival, crews saw the home on fire with smoke and flames visible.
The owner stated that he was burning weeds on the back patio area when flames reached a nearby tree, which quickly ignited and spread to the house and a wooden fence, eventually working up into the siding, eaves, and potential attic space of the home.
A MABAS response was given with several Departments responding to completely extinguish the fire and to perform emergency operations.
No other property was affected, and no injuries were reported, and damage estimates are not currently available.
Assisting MFRD on scene were the Manitowoc Police Department, Manitowoc Public Utilities, Newton Fire, Two Rivers Medical Unit and Fire Chief, the Red Cross, and Kellmann Restoration.
