The man charged in the death of 3-year-old Elijah Vue is returning to court today (July 31st).
41-year-old Jesse Vang will have a motion hearing in Judge Anthony Lambrecht’s courtroom later this afternoon.
The hearing will involve evidence testimony and whether certain experts should be allowed to testify at Vang’s trial scheduled for April next year.
The 41-year-old faces charges including physical assault of a child causing death, hiding a corpse, resisting or obstructing an officer, and chronic child neglect.
Prosecutors say that Elijah’s mother, 33-year-old Katrina Baur, brought the toddler to Vang’s apartment in Two Rivers to try and “correct his bad behavior.”
A criminal complaint alleges that means Elijah would stand for long periods of time and would be threatened with cold showers.
After he was reported missing in February 2024, his remains were found in the Town of Two Rivers in September that same year.
Baur and Vang are still scheduled to go to trial at the same time; however, Baur recently received a new attorney after claiming she and her former attorney had a falling-out in communication.
