A new part of a major interstate construction project in Sheboygan County starts today (July 31st).
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced that work on the County Road PP bridge crossing Interstate 43 in Sheboygan will get underway.
While crews replace an expansion joint, PP will remain open with temporary traffic signals at each end of the bridge.
Pedestrian access will also be maintained. Northbound and southbound I-43 remain closed at the Highway 23 interchange ramps, which are closed Sunday through Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The work is part of the $21 million rehabilitation project on a little more than 10 miles of I-43 from Wilson/Lima Road in the Town of Wilson to State Highway 42 in the Town of Sheboygan.
WisDOT says the rehabilitation -level project includes removal of three inches of deteriorated pavement and overlay with 3¾ inches of new asphalt, bridge maintenance, sign bridge replacement, guardrail replacement, and fencing replacement.
