A standoff in Burnett County this week between law enforcement and the suspect in an assault ended in the death of the suspect.
The events happened Wednesday after a woman reported being attacked by a man in Grantsburg Township.
Officers went to the man’s home and tried for an hour to get him to come outside.
When they were unsuccessful, officers went in and found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His name has not been released.
