The City of Sheboygan is looking to annex land from a surrounding community to build a large-scale manufacturing facility.
Earlier this week, the Sheboygan City Plan Commission approved the unilateral annexation of approximately 34 acres of land in the Town of Wilson to allow Northland Plastics to relocate and expand its headquarters.
The City states, “While this business has seen extensive growth, their current residential surroundings can no longer accommodate their planned expansion.”
Meanwhile, City Plan Commission documents note that Northland Plastics “requires access to the City of Sheboygan’s municipal public water system and municipal sanitary sewer services, which have adequate capacity to serve the Subject Territory.”
A unilateral land annexation of this kind does not require approval or consent from the Town of Wilson, but rather a petition from the actual property owners, and in this case, The Mighty Three Stripe LLC, a real estate holding company well versed in municipal annexation petitions.
Sheboygan’s Common Council will vote on fully approving the land annexation on Monday (August 3rd).
