A Sheboygan man convicted in an attempted homicide case has been sentenced.
25-year-old Tommie Dixon will spend 35 years in prison, followed by 15 years of extended supervision after being sentenced by Sheboygan County Judge Rebecca Persick.
Dixon was found guilty in May of attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide after getting a gun off the body of a police officer and trying to pull it out of its holster.
At trial, he was also found guilty of resisting or obstructing an officer, disarming a police officer, and bail jumping charges.
Before the 25-year-old was sentenced, two victims made statements.
Sheboygan Police tried to talk with Dixon after they got a call about a person waving a gun in the air. The suspect gave officers a fake name.
Prosecutors said that Dixon was able to overpower one of the officers to get the gun before he himself was shot.
When West Bend Police investigated the case, they say Dixon told them he “was trying to get away from the situation” and brushed off the officer to “get the gun away from her so she would not shoot him.”
