Two Rivers’ City Manager is answering questions about what he thinks will help stop population loss in the city.
Kyle Kordell says one step the city took a couple of weeks ago was approving a one-year extension of TID #9, which helped bring in VT Industries.
The city expected to get about $160,000 in additional value and invest it in preparing 24 acres near the high school for future residential development.
Kordell noted that the development is not for Section 8 housing, but to create attainable market-rate housing for working families making less than $100,000.
The city manager continues to say that expanding housing options for those residents is “essential if we want to continue growing our community. And we have to invest to make it happen. Development won’t just magically appear.”
The project is also a new way to approach residential development, with the city preparing the land and partnering with experienced developers to build and market the neighborhood.
