A special boat is docked on the lakeshore today (July 28th).
The Inland Seas is a 77-foot schooner that is offering two three-hour educational sails in Two Rivers today before stopping in Manitowoc tomorrow.
Residents in the Cool City who signed up for sails will meet at Coast Guard Park before casting off into Lake Michigan.
There, parents and students will learn about the Great Lakes ecosystem, identify fish, collect plankton, sample the lake bottom, and complete water testing.
Manitowoc residents who signed up for sails will get the same opportunities but will first meet at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum.
The Inland Seas ship is part of a partnership between the Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary and Inland Seas Education Association.
While all four sails in Manitowoc and Two Rivers are full, those still interested can be added to a waiting list.
Details can be found at shipwrreckcoastfriends.org/events.
