A new attendance record has been set for EAA AirVenture.
The preliminary reports indicate that roughly 730,000 people walked through the gates to experience the world’s largest aviation event.
While plenty of local residents were among those in attendance, EAA CEO Jack Pelton says that visitors from 90 countries attended the event this year to see the thousands of planes and helicopters and take in the amazing fireworks show.
The event was also highlighted by the largest welcome home ceremony Old Glory Honor Flight has ever seen.
The organization held its annual Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight last Friday, which is designed to give Vietnam veterans a chance to visit Washington DC and get the welcome home they didn’t get 50 years ago.
