2026 has been full of spectacle and celebration as we recognize the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America. Over the summer, Manitowoc Public Library has been offering a look back at our own local history. If you have ever been interested in learning a bit more about Manitowoc, I invite you to the ManitoWalk: Historic Downtown Walking Tour!
The ManitoWalk focuses on 10 iconic buildings on Downtown 8th Street in Manitowoc. Library staff will take you on a guided tour as we discuss the individuals who established some of Manitowoc’s most famous buildings.
Come learn about the renowned watchmakers of Fehrs Jewelry Store, the community impact of the Schuette Brothers, and how Manitowoc Public Library became what it is today.

Join us at Manitowoc Public Library on Monday August 3, at 5:30 PM. Please gather outside by the library flagpole approximately 10 minutes prior to the tour’s start time. This is a walking tour of our downtown, and you will need to be able to withstand walking and standing for over an hour if you sign up to take the ManitoWalk.
This tour is a fantastic opportunity for both people new to Manitowoc, as well as lifelong residents.
