Two Rivers’ assistant police chief has been given a great honor.
American Legion Post 165 says they have nominated Mellisa Weisner for the State of Wisconsin Officer of the Year Award.
Weisner was selected from among five regional recipients to get the award and will have it presented to her at the American Legion National Convention in September.
The award recognizes a “well-rounded officer who has gone above and beyond in the duties of her position while demonstrating a sustained commitment to community service and professional achievement.”
Post 165 says Weisner was also later selected as the recipient of the 2025 Edward J. Ormsby Law & Order Award, presented annually to an outstanding law enforcement officer in the community.
That award was given to her during the American Legion Department Convention in Appleton last week.
