The Manitowoc American Legion 19u baseball season has come to an end. The 19u squad took on Neenah last night (July 23rd), falling by a score of 8-7.
The tightly contested ball game remained scoreless through three innings before Neenah got on the board first in the bottom of the 4th.
However, Manitowoc would respond immediately, scoring three runs in the top of the 5th inning thanks to a double off the bat of Manitowoc Lincoln’s Cade Grapentine and a single from Aiden Reinke of Brillion.
Manitowoc would then add to their total the following inning after Lincoln’s Gabe Eichmann smashed a two-run triple.
Neenah answered right back, scoring five runs of their own in the bottom of the 6th to take a three-run lead into the game’s final frame.
Needing some late-game heroics, Manitowoc’s 19u team plated two runs but would fall short, bringing an end to their campaign.
On the bump, Roncalli’s Jake Hillmer would get the loss, going five and one-third innings, giving up six runs and seven hits while fanning four.
With the loss in the Kimberly Regional, Manitowoc’s American Legion 19u team finishes its season with a record of 16-8.
