The “coolest” event in the Cool City returns this weekend.
Two Rivers Snow Fest: Cool City Vibes kicks off tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. at Neshotah Park in Two Rivers with demonstrations from the Two Rivers High School Robotics Team and music from Jordan Blanchard.
Jeff Sachse and his brother Tony brought the event back in 2018 after a 22-year hiatus.
Jeff tells SeehaferNews.com that it felt like there was a hole missing in the summer in Two Rivers.
“And just knowing how the important somewhere on the event calendar was to the community and always has been, it was our passion to really bring it back,” he explained. “And while it took three years to do so, we’re happy to be on the cusp of doing this for the sixth time.”
Since the event came back, Sachse says he’s received many ‘thank-yous’ for bringing it back, not only because of the historical connection, but because it had meant a lot to residents.
This year’s theme “Cool City Vibes” is about all the different music they are bringing to the lakeshore, but especially the Sunday lineup focusing on “Yacht Rock.”
“We have three nights of programming plus family entertainment that really appealing for anyone of any age,” he noted. “It really does speak to again the aesthetic of the coolest festival in the coolest spot in Wisconsin.”
After Friday ends with Two Rivers Police K9 Demos and music from Smoke Road, the Snow Fest Parade kicks Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Sachse noted that this year it’s going down Garfield Street from S. 29th to S. 22nd Streets.
“And for those who aren’t familiar with where Garfield Street is, Garfield Street runs into Neshotah Park,” he recalled. “So for those of you who are coming down to the parade, you’ll literally have to cross the street to be at the Snow Fest grounds.”
Saturday’s event will include a new Glow-in-the-dark bubble show for kids as well as music from the band Wet Possum, who had one of the biggest crowds during Two Rivers Beach Bash.
Snow Fest was created after snow was found buried underneath the ground during a record-breaking heatwave in the 1930s.
