Three Sheboygan County organizations focused on feeding the hungry have brought back a program for the SCIO Farmer’s Market.
Produce for Pantries initiative is a collaboration between Sheboygan County Food Bank, Healthy Sheboygan County, and Sheboygan County Interfaith Organization’s Farmers Market where community members shopping at the market are encouraged to purchase extra fruits and vegetables from vendors to donate.
That donated produce is then offered to the food bank’s network of food pantries and other organizations.
Patrick Boyle, the Executive Director of the Sheboygan County Food Bank, said of the program, “Fresh produce is one of the most requested and impactful types of food we can provide. Produce for Pantries aligns with our healthy food policy and creates a simple but meaningful way for the community to help ensure local families have access to healthy food throughout the growing season.”
In 2025, over 3,500 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables were donated through Produce for Pantries, helping prevent unnecessary food waste, supporting local farmers, and providing fresh, nutritious foods for Sheboygan County families.
