The Milwaukee City Attorney is not going to recommend exempting federal law enforcement from the city’s mask ban.
Evan Goyke sent a letter on Friday to federal officials saying his office “will prosecute any validly issued citation for acts in violation of the ordinance.”
His letter comes more than a week after the Department of Justice asked Goyke’s office and Milwaukee’s mayor for “assurances” that the office wouldn’t try to enforce the ordinance.
Goyke argued masked law enforcement can increase the risk of dangerous interactions with the public and “bad actors” harming others by “impersonating officers.”
