The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has extended an Air Quality Advisory for all east-central and northeast Wisconsin until 6 p.m., including Manitowoc County.
Air Quality is expected to reach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups, which include people with heart disease and/or asthma.
The DNR says that the smoke burning from wildfires in Canada and Minnesota is clearing from northwest to southeast but will take longer to clear across the region.
You are asked, if possible, to limit outdoor activities and take more breaks. Citizens are also being asked to be alert for symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath, and those suffering with asthma are asked to follow their action plan and keep relief medicine handy.
Continual clearing of the smoke as well as forecasted storm activity should diminish advisory-level smoke by 6 p.m.
