It was another successful year for the 4th of July safety campaign.
Wisconsin DNR wardens participated in Operation Dry Water, the national initiative aimed at preventing boating deaths.
Conservation wardens made contact with 1,700 Wisconsin boaters for education and safety purposes.
25 impaired boat operators were apprehended, while wardens also gave out 900 warnings and more than 200 citations to boaters for safety violations.
One incident involved a highly intoxicated man on a sandbar who began yelling at officers.
He would begin driving his personal watercraft toward them before he was arrested for operating a boat while intoxicated.
DNR officials also helped save a woman on the Eagle River Chain and assisted with power line safety after severe storms in Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth Counties.
