A heavily trafficked road in Sheboygan will close this week.
The Sheboygan Department of Public Works has announced that Broughton Drive between Wisconsin Avenue and Washington Court will be closed tomorrow (July 20th), beginning at 6:00 a.m.
This road project is intended to make necessary repairs due to heat-related pavement buckling on Broughton Drive.
These repairs include the removal and replacement of pavement at the mid-block pedestrian crossing in front of the YMCA.
While work is being done, Broughton will be closed to through traffic, the pedestrian crossing will be closed entirely, and access to the Deland Park parking lots and the Harbor Centre Marina will be maintained from the south off of Pennsylvania Avenue.
During repairs, southbound traffic will be detoured east on Niagara Avenue, south on 4th Street, and east on Pennsylvania.
Meanwhile, northbound traffic will be detoured north onto 4th, east on Niagara, and north back to Broughton.
At this time, no concrete completion date has been provided, but the DPW noted that work is weather-dependent, and rain may extend the project schedule.
