After receiving two large grants, Grow it Forward is purchasing all of its food from local businesses.
Amber Daugs says that they have received two large grants, the first from Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin for $15,000, and the second from Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee for $50,000.
“So what both these grants allow us to do is purchase food from our direct farmers or local food producers to provide for those in need in our food pantry,” Daugs told us.
Grow it Forward is a non-profit organization, and their main goal is to feed struggling Manitowoc citizens.
With this money, they will be able to purchase food from local farms and small businesses and give all the money they are making back to the community.
A lot of the food they are purchasing is going to children or the elderly, both of whom need good nutrition.
She stated, “And to provide them with nutrient-dense, quality, local food, just is super meaningful.”
Grow it Forward is very grateful for this money and are happy that they get to give back to their community.
