A Francis Creek man accused of sexual assault will be going on trial later this year.
76-year-old Michael Kornely has a four-day trial slated to begin on December 4th as he faces charges of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of an Intoxicated Victim and 3rd Degree Sexual Assault.
He had three other charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, Using a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime, and Causing a Child to View Sexual Activity dismissed on motion from the prosecution.
His defense team tried to have rape shield evidence admitted into the case, but that motion was denied by Judge Mark Rohrer back in May.
He was arrested in March of 2024 after the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office learned he had attempted to meet a child for sex.
Kornely is next due in court on November 14th for a pre-trial conference ahead of his jury trial.
