The Manitowoc Public School District has officially updated its strategic plan.
The school board has been discussing the framework of the plan since last year to establish a clear roadmap that will guide the district’s work over the next three to four years.
The plan has five priority areas: student achievement and well-being; school culture and discipline; communication and engagement; attracting, recruiting, and hiring staff; and fiscal responsibility and operational infrastructure.
Some policies MPSD will implement include developing and implementing comprehensive behavioral and discipline policies, strengthening and mapping partnerships with parents and other groups, and improving their retention rate for the 2026-2027 school year, among many other goals.
Superintendent Lee Thennesy says the strategic vision, “clearly defines where we are headed as a district while holding ourselves accountable through measurable goals and regular progress monitoring.”
It will also be used to guide annual goal setting, budget priorities, and operational planning.
