The Madison Symphony Orchestra has a new leader.
Officials announced Laura Jackson as the orchestra’s next music director, making her the fifth to hold the position in the group’s century-old history.
Jackson made an appearance as a guest conductor for the MSO last April, and will once again be conducting a program in November and next May.
The MSO said she will take over the title of music director beginning with the 2027-28 season and be on a five-year contract.
