A great day on the mound helped the Manitowoc American Legion Baseball team to a decisive win over Seymour last night.
Post 88 was in Seymour for the contest, which they won 7-0, thanks in part to phenomenal pitching performances by two Roncalli products.
Jake Hillmer got the start, hurling 5 and one-third innings of one-hit ball, striking out six batters in the process.
Hayden Dewane came on in relief, also allowing just one hit, and added three more K’s to the stat sheet.
At the plate, Kelvin Gilbertson of Brillion had a day to remember, going 3 for 3, driving home two runs, and crossing home plate once.
Also contributing on the scoreboard were Manitowoc Lincoln’s Gabe Eichman, Benson Dickrell, Jace Jaschob, and Cameron Shilts, all of whom recorded 1 RBI.
With the win, Post 88 improved to 14-6 and will be back on Bruce Steinbecker Field tomorrow night as they host Green Bay Southwest.
