A Manitowoc man charged with threatening a man with a machete has been convicted.
udge Jerilyn Dietz accepted a plea deal for 32-year-old Dakota Hefty last week.
He was found guilty due to a no-contest plea for a charge of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct, both with use of a dangerous weapon modifier.
Hefty was sentenced to two years of probation and must spend 30 days in the Manitowoc County Jail.
Judge Dietz also sentenced the 32-year-old to some jail time on the disorderly conduct charge, but stayed the time.
Hefty’s probation also requires counseling and not possessing any knife or BB gun.
The suspect was initially charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety before it was modified.
Hefty was arrested on April 9th after Manitowoc Police were called for a weapons complaint.
He grabbed an airsoft gun and a large machete after becoming agitated with someone fixing an electrical outlet in his and his mom’s apartment.
He would wave the blade through the air, telling the victim that “he was going to kill them and cut their head off.”
