An annual music festival for a famous Two Rivers native takes place this weekend.
The Bryan Lee Memorial Blues Festival gets Saturday underway (July 11th) beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Known as the “Braille Blues Daddy”, Lee was born in Two Rivers in 1943 before taking his career to New Orleans in the 1980s.
He would continue to perform in the Big Easy until his passing in 2020.
Two Rivers Main Street says music kicks off at 1:40 p.m. with Kevin B. Snyder, followed by the Barefoot Trio at 3:00 p.m. and the Tommy Bentz Band at 4:20 p.m.
Last year, the City of Two Rivers declared July 12th as Bryan Lee Day in honor of the blues musician.
Bryan Lee recorded eighteen albums over four decades and got a 2011 Grammy nomination with Artist Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
He also won the 201 Blues Music Association’s Blues Rock Album of the Year and was awarded the 2015 Big City Rhythm and Blues Lifetime Achievement Award, among other accolades.
